pizzaman: i think petrol is too cheap. we should be using other forms of transport which dont destroy the planet
jk: i agree, make it £50 a gallon. use a bike instead
pizzaman: come on jk be realistic
pizzaman: we need people to only use their car where necessary
apples: It's humans that destory the planet, not cars - petrol should be untaxed and then we'd end this recession pretty sharpish
jk: if you untax petrol it will be like 1p a gallon!!!!!
apples: When developing nations come online with their entire population driving cars instead of bikes, then the cost of petrol will really rocket
apples: I wonder if you could create a mini refinery in your garden? Oil is < $100 per barrel (how big are the barrels!!), and you wouldn't be selling the petrol just using it. There's a business opportunity there. I'm going onto Dragons Den :Djk: good idea, i bet heath and saefty would throw a spanner the workspizzaman: my neighbours a nutter. i can image him building some contraption that blows my house to pieces. Why not the goverment allow people to make their own fuel in a controlled environment. ie they let out a facilityijk: now thats a good idea as i once read that someone was collecting old cooking old and making it into petrol.......apples: You can do that can't you, with diseal cars?jk: heres an articel from Mr Google http://www.csmonitor.com/2006/0718/p01s04-ussc.html
pizzaman: hay the more users the bigger carbon problem. soon we will have destroyed our planet. we need to keep petrol prices high and use the tax to develop new forms of power.....solar energyapples: We could do that, but in the longer run the increase in population will destroy any savings there
apples: I can't figure out how fuel has busted past the £1 per litre mark, and no-one seems to have noticed!pizzaman: people dont care anymore......
apples: What happened to all the trucker and farmer blockades?pizzaman: i agree, industry will ne knackered if fuel prices increase. this great country of ours used to a world leader at investing stuff. we need to make a cheaper and more environment friendly way to transport goods etc.
apples: I'm wondering when the move to hydrogen fuel cells will occur. This technology must have been ready and in place for years?
apples: Do you reckon the car manufacturers all take backhanders from the oil companies to not bother investing in new energy?
pizzaman: you bet, the petrol companies must buy up all the good ideas a stash them in big safe never to see the light of day again.
apples: One day someone will invent a revolutionary form of transport that doesn't use petrol (or direct electricity), but it won't be the big car companies, it'll be some small business that does the deed and slips through unnoticed for a few years. Bring it on I say! Our transportation technology hasn't changed for over 100 years!jk: trouble is the Government are so concerned a losing the fuel companies profits they wont push itpizzaman: i bet the petrol companes dont pay as much tax as they should. i bet they have some crafty accountants to mix things up!
apples: True - the same goes for banning cigarettes. They make so much money from them that they haven't got the bottle just to ban smoking outright.pizzaman: this agrument is about the cost of living......as well as food....dont mind petrol what about the cost of fruit which is more imortant.
pizzaman: this is all going to change. how comes Toyota are the only company to bring out a realistic dual fuel car. Is there some form of government incentive to build a new car for the future. if not there should be
apples: Honda has one too, and it's cheaper. But they both look a bit cack :)
pizzaman: was that the one i read in metro mag. its a duffer. 0-60mph in 4hours 15 mins.apples: lol yes. But they aren't really that innovative - a petrol tank and a battery the size of a house. I mean, come on! Even I could have thought of something a bit more adventurous than that!
