Ironside: rubbish, over the last 30 years Boycott, Gooch and Botham (but to name a few) played a far greater staring role over a longer period. Freddy has had only a few key moments in his career, which is now cut short.
Rawk: But those guys never really won much did they? I'm sure they were fine in their own way, but as for going down in history as a great player Freddy is surely going to be up on top.
DrStrangelove: come on the players these days go into bat like Sir Lancelot. You cannot compare these guys againts the greats. The ball is still as hard but the equipment they have today make it less painful. I remember going into bat in the 1960's with the gloves which were more than green spikes. If you got hit on the hand it HURT. Freddy has a long way to go to be as good as these guys from the past
